ASALH is a national organization with local branches. Basic membership categories and dues are determined by the national body of the organization. While the local branches solicit members and collect membership fees, all money collected in compliance with the established categories is sent directly to ASALH headquarters at the expense of the functioning branch. In order for the branches to operate, each is required to assess their members a separate membership fee. The Bronx Branch assesses $25 a year per member. This $25 a year is paid in addition to the fee that is required by the national body, enumerated below. One cannot become a branch member without paying the fee that is designated by the national body. All branch members are also national members. Official membership cards are issued by the national office only.
Membership year is January 1 through December 31.

Life Membership
Regular: $1800.
Life Interim: $360, paid each year for 5 years.
Junior Life Membership: $500, up to 26 years of age.
